-Build a new epidemic prevention system in Yamanashi –

Tokyo – June 12, 2020 –CMIC HOLDINGS Co., Ltd. (henceforth “CMIC”) announced to enter into a partnership agreement with Yamanashi Prefecture (Governor: Kotaro Nagasaki) to build a new epidemic prevention system in the prefecture.

Yamanashi Prefecture is currently working to build a new epidemic prevention system, including expansion of drive-through testing led by the University of Yamanashi, in addition to testing mainly carried out at the Yamanashi Institute for Public Health. The prefecture is also preparing for future disease outbreaks by establishing partnerships with corporations to expand the prefecture’s testing capabilities, such as systems allowing priority access to companies’ testing facilities and working with specialists.

Through this partnership, CMIC Pharma Science Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Yamanashi Prefecture), the non-clinical research arm of the CMIC Group and the Japan’s largest non-clinical CRO, will collaborate with Yamanashi Prefecture to rapidly expand the prefecture’s emergency testing capabilities through its research facility, CMIC Bioresearch Center (located in Kobuchizawa, Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture).

In June of this year, a new research building incorporating the latest air conditioning and airflow control technology was completed at the CMIC Bioresearch Center. The building is equipped for testing under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations, with a focus on short-term animal-breeding experiments.

CMIC also entered a research partnership agreement with the University of Yamanashi on November 26, 2018, and since then has been collaborating with the university on various plans in various areas in the healthcare field, such as research and development, education and training, and human resource development and exchange. Going forward, we plan to strengthen our collaboration with the University of Yamanashi in epidemic prevention.

The CMIC Group will do our utmost to strengthen this new epidemic prevention system launched in Yamanashi Prefecture as part of a collaborative effort between industry, government, and academia to build a safe prefecture for residents.
